About Our Directors


ROD SAMUT - Chairman

Rod has more than 30 years’ experience in commercial and industrial property markets. Since 2007, he has been an adviser to Opus Capital Group. He is currently the Chairman of fund manager NHLS & Co and is also the Chairman of Trade Coast Central, the developer of the former Brisbane Airport land at Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Rod is a former Queensland President of the Property Council of Australia, Queensland Chairman of the Australian Council of Shopping Centres and Chairman of the Brisbane City Council’s Office of Economic Development. Rod is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Australia.

ROSS PATANE - Non-Executive Director

Ross is the Lead Principal for WHK Howarth Corporate Finance Ltd in Brisbane. Ross provides corporate finance advisory services to small to large local and international businesses and has been involved in a wide range of transactions and consulting assignments from ASX listings and venture capital funding to mergers, divestments and acquisitions.

WILLIAM (BILL) DE STEIGER - Non-Executive Director

Bill de Steiger is a highly experience fund manager and financial adviser, and brings to Opus significant expertise in strategic analysis and distribution of financial products and services. An MBA and engineer, Bill worked with Macquarie Bank for 10 years in funds management, with AMP as head of distribution to external financial planners, and with Professional Investment Services as a corporate adviser. He has played a major role in the establishment and distribution of a range of managed funds.

DEAN PALMER - Chief Executive Officer - Alternate Director

Dean is a Chartered Accountant, with degrees in accounting and law. Dean's experience in developing commercially focused financial reports, extensive experience in the financial services industry and ability to actively influence business decisions allows him to positively contribute to the financial health of the Company. The Opus Capital Finance Team, led by Dean, is responsible for the financial control and analysis of all aspects of the Company and Opus investments.
